<br />
After months on hiatus, I'm finally back with a new post in the blog, The past few months have been extremely busy. A new demanding position at work, and with kids home during the summer months, left me with very little time for myself. All work and no play has made me a not-so fun person. I missed sharing my nail polish obsession, so I hope to be back and posting more regularly. Now, back to nail business...<br />
<br />
While I may have been away from my blog for months, it certainly did not hinder me from acquiring new additions to my collection. A new brand for me was <a href="http://www.cultnails.com/">Cult Nails.</a> Maria, founder and creator, released a very special collection this past July. Coco's Untamed Collection was created by Maria's, then not-quite thirteen year-old daughter, Coco. The collection consists of five beautiful colors. Being that I am a purple lover, Spontaneous immediately jumped out at me.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JyEIMhHLip0/UHsUqxbMKcI/AAAAAAAABfo/JDtv1tizVLA/s1600/CultNail_Spontaneous-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JyEIMhHLip0/UHsUqxbMKcI/AAAAAAAABfo/JDtv1tizVLA/s1600/CultNail_Spontaneous-1.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
Hello purple beauty! Spontaneous is a smokey deep purple creme filled with bright purple micro-glitter. The contrast between the muted tone purple, and the vibrant violet glitter, is simply amazing. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yRwqIb0QEfg/UHsUs88QTTI/AAAAAAAABf4/cjIjI0qqnQY/s1600/CultNail_Spontaneous-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yRwqIb0QEfg/UHsUs88QTTI/AAAAAAAABf4/cjIjI0qqnQY/s1600/CultNail_Spontaneous-2.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
While indoors, the deep purple shade is very sultry. Under direct sunlight, the purple micro-glitter shimmers like crazy! So beautiful!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XHzzTG9iqrw/UHsUtsHh_7I/AAAAAAAABf8/Q4s-lrTI9as/s1600/CultNail_Spontaneous-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XHzzTG9iqrw/UHsUtsHh_7I/AAAAAAAABf8/Q4s-lrTI9as/s1600/CultNail_Spontaneous-3.JPG" width="325" /></a></div>
<br />
Being new to the brand, my first attempt with the application was a bit tricky. Maybe it was the brush, since I didn't find the formula too be too thick or too thin. I did feel a bit challenged during my first coat because I could not get it to apply evenly on the nails. Nothing a second and third coat couldn't fix though. It did dry to a slightly gritty finish. Again, easy and nicely fixed with a good top coat like Poshé<br />
<br />
I'm loving this color; I am very sure I will be reaching for this color again. <br />
It's Friday Night! What's the perfect nail color to kick-off my weekend? Maisie Shine Friday Night, of course!<br />
<br />
I have to first apologize for showing you a color that is currently not available. But seriously, how gorgeous is this color? How can I possibly not share? <span style="background-color: white;">Here's a closer look at this beauty in the bottle...</span><br />
<br />

I see color combination of magenta, blue, teal, and purple.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;">On my nails, I layered two coats of Friday Night over a base of Wet n Wild Wild Shine Black </span><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 0.17in;">Crème, which is just a basic black. Gorgeous! </span><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 0.17in;">Honestly, Friday Night can be worn alone, without a base, and it would still be perfectly fine. The jelly base was dark and opaque enough that definitely three coats would build enough color.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;">Lindsey, creative creator and owner of </span><a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/MaisieShine" style="background-color: white;">Maisie Shine</a><span style="background-color: white;">, </span><span style="background-color: white;">noticed a slight curling issue with the large magenta glitter. For now, she has decided not to sell Friday Night, until she can find an alternative and resolve the problem. Lucky for me, I was able to get a bottle. The ever so sweet Lindsey warned me about the possible slight curling issue. But look at it this, it's sooo beautiful... I just didn't care. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;">You don't see any curling glitter here in the photos, but I did have a couple on my right hand. The curling was slight, and nothing like "taco" curling. What I ended up doing was flip the curling glitter, so the curve side was facing down on the nail. Volia! Curling glitter problem was solved.</span></div>
<br />
I hope Lindsey can find a good substitute glitter soon. Friday Night is just too beautiful not to bring back!BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-544132664303081363.post-74622440149096867272012-07-04T18:13:00.002-07:002016-06-28T15:18:27.680-07:00Fourth of July Nails<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="background-color: white;">Happy 4th of July everyone! </span><br />
<br />
I hope everyone is enjoying the day. Our morning started off with going over to city hall to see the 4th of July parade; followed by a nice brunch out. We got back home and got all the prep done for the BBQ. While my hubby is manning the grill, I thought I come by with a quick post.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="background-color: white;">I'm not very good at nail art, so I just tend to play around with color and glitter for my themed nails. </span><br />

<br />
This mani started out with a blue base of Maisie Shine Fantasia, and Orly Ma Cherie for the red base on my ring finger. Next, I layered <a href="http://blumochi.blogspot.com/2012/05/nostalgic-nail-lacquer-pride.html">Nostalgic Nail Lacquer Pride</a> over Maisie Shine Fantasia; and <a href="http://www.julep.com/shop/nail-polish.html?page=5" target="_blank">Julep America</a> over Orly Ma Cherie ring finger. To combat the bumpiness, I add 2 coats of Gelous, and a coat of <span style="background-color: white; text-align: left;">Poshé quick dry top coat.</span><br />
<br />
I have to be honest and say that my original mani plan did not involve <a href="http://blumochi.blogspot.com/2012/05/nostalgic-nail-lacquer-pride.html">Nostalgic Nail Lacquer Pride</a>. It was an after thought because I was so disappointment that I could not find any stars in my bottle of <a href="http://www.julep.com/shop/nail-polish.html?page=5" target="_blank">Juelp America</a>. You can see from my bottle shot, my <a href="http://www.julep.com/shop/nail-polish.html?page=5" target="_blank">Julep America</a> looks completely star-less. I try digging around for some, though I did see one floating in there, I failed at getting it out. I had my heart set on stars... even if it was just one star. Feeling a bit defeated, I reached for <span style="background-color: white;"><a href="http://blumochi.blogspot.com/2012/05/nostalgic-nail-lacquer-pride.html">Nostalgic Nail Lacquer Pride</a>. Yes, I think that did the trick.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;">Both <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/MaisieShine">Maisie Shine</a> and <a href="http://nostalgicnaillacquer.bigcartel.com/">Nostalgic Nail Lacquer</a> are independent brands. If you click on their name, the link will take you to their store front. Currently, both Fantasia and Pride are sold out. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white;">While I'm enjoying the middle of the week break, I do wish it could have been a long weekend. </span><span style="background-color: white;">Now, it's time for me to get back to our BBQ, stuff myself with more food, then it's off the see the fireworks. </span>BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-544132664303081363.post-15474268211814489692012-07-01T14:26:00.000-07:002012-07-01T14:35:31.567-07:00OPI I Have A Herring Problem<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I hope everyone
is enjoying their weekend! I'm so sad it's almost over, but I look
forward for a short work week with 4th of July coming up in a few
days for us in the US. I spent all of Saturday working in the
yard,planting and trimming back over-grown trees and bushes, and
cleaning out our patio. Feeling a little achy (aging is so cruel),
operation patio and yard clean up continues today. I am taking a bit
of a break right now to do a quick post.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Even though my
nails are in need of some TLC right now, which will be taken care
later this evening, I have a recent mani to share.</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">

A very dusty
blue with gold shimmers. It's not a flat-out grey based blue; it
actually looks to have some bit of teal green base to it.</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The gold shimmer
really pops out against the blue base. Sometimes, it even looks a
bit silvery, very beautiful.</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Though a
beautiful color, I have a bit of mixed feelings about it. I'm not
sure the color works well with my skin tone. I think it makes my
hands look a bit 'dirty'. Definitely not a color I should be wearing
when I have my summer color. But perhaps to try again when I have my
winter coloring back.</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I Have A Herring

<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The boldest and brightest blue nail
polish I own. This is Electric Blue, one of five colors from
Dior's limited edition collection, inspired by Anselm Reyle, a German
contemporary artist.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Two years ago, I would have shyed away
from this color. It was much too bright, and perhaps a little too
shocking for me to wear. However, today it's a totally different
story. I am quite a bit more daring when it comes to nail color. I
don't mind my nails making an entrance before I do.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="background-color: white;">Electric Blue is the perfect name for this color...</span><br />

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="background-color: white;">The
vivid royal blue borders shocking; definitely a "in your face"
blue. People will notice your fingers with this color on.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="background-color: white;">Though barely noticeable on the nail,
there is that infamous Dior shimmer. This color is a bit off in the

very fond of the Dior formulation and this was no different. I also
find that Dior nail polish are pretty fast drying, and with
incredible shine. I used two coats here, and because I was in a rush
to get out the door, I also used a fast drying top coat.</span></div>

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jj7OtTHpQ1U/T8R4Bp3YvnI/AAAAAAAABVM/Qku4ScYGRYE/s1600/DSC_0769.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jj7OtTHpQ1U/T8R4Bp3YvnI/AAAAAAAABVM/Qku4ScYGRYE/s1600/DSC_0769.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
Deciding on what I was going to wear on my nails for Memorial Day was easy. My newly acquired bottle of Nostalgic Nail Lacquer Pride was the obvious choice. Plus it was sitting there, on top of my computer desk, just screaming to be worn. <br />
<br />
Pride is described "a patriotic mixture of red, white and blue glitters in various shapes and sizes, topped off with a hearty dose of star shaped glitter." This is one of seven limited edition glitter shades, from the summer collection, Seven Deadly Sins. I am proud, not ashamed to say, I have acquired six out of the seven in the collection.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5ppSxeCsqig/T8R9XTMgB7I/AAAAAAAABWE/HSoBHx2V0gI/s1600/Nostalgic_Pride+over+Zoya_Trixie-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5ppSxeCsqig/T8R9XTMgB7I/AAAAAAAABWE/HSoBHx2V0gI/s1600/Nostalgic_Pride+over+Zoya_Trixie-1.JPG" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I don't know what made me decide to use silver as a base color. In my mind, I had imagined it to work out better than it actually did. Overall, still not too bad. The star and white bar glitter are kind of incognito against the silver backdrop. But if you look close, you can see it there.
<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3y3Wp2uKm80/T8R4DUN5wOI/AAAAAAAABVc/Dd9uMPGbmjc/s1600/Nostalgic_Pride+over+Zoya_Trixie-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3y3Wp2uKm80/T8R4DUN5wOI/AAAAAAAABVc/Dd9uMPGbmjc/s1600/Nostalgic_Pride+over+Zoya_Trixie-2.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
My base color was three coats of Zoya Trixie. Maybe I could have gone with just two coats, but I found Trixie to be a bit thinner and watery than I would have liked. Then, two coats of Pride was added.
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-l_2MGsA0iHI/T8R4D8AwAzI/AAAAAAAABVg/wA3XPIvOCWA/s1600/Nostalgic_Pride+over+Zoya_Trixie-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-l_2MGsA0iHI/T8R4D8AwAzI/AAAAAAAABVg/wA3XPIvOCWA/s1600/Nostalgic_Pride+over+Zoya_Trixie-3.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="text-align: left;">With glitter top coats, you have to use the dollop and spread method, which is exactly what I did here. </span><span style="text-align: left;">I had a bit of trouble trying to get my glitter in place. As you tell by my middle finger, I accidentally ended up with a bit too much glitter there. I think this is pretty typical of glitter top coats; sometimes I get lucky, and sometimes I don't. Then again, that's the beauty of it. Maybe not for a semi-control freak like myself.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-X28BrsZ8NkU/T8R4ETEJcmI/AAAAAAAABVk/M_WrPTaT9cw/s1600/Nostalgic_Pride+over+Zoya_Trixie-4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-X28BrsZ8NkU/T8R4ETEJcmI/AAAAAAAABVk/M_WrPTaT9cw/s1600/Nostalgic_Pride+over+Zoya_Trixie-4.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To combat the bumpiness, I added a nice coat of Gelous, followed by a coat of Poshé quick dry top coat.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Overall, I am satisfied with the combination I used, though I look forward to trying out other layering options, something a bit more adventurous.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Are you loving Pride? You'll have to see the other 6 sins Erin created for this collection over at <a href="http://nostalgicnaillacquer.bigcartel.com/">Nostalgic Nail Lacquer</a> store.</div>

<br />
Another newly discovered indie brand I'm just trying for the first time. I picked up 3 colors from the <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/lushlacquer#">Lush Lacquer</a> store on Etsy. Karin and Lexi are the owners of the Lush Lacquer, a mother and daughter "best friend" duo that creates fabulous glitter combination nail polish. How wonderful is that?!<br />
<br />
Party Rockin' immediately caught my eyes as I quickly tore into my package. I knew it was going to be a winner when I first ordered it, but seeing this in person was beyond amazing. Just wow! I could not wait to wear this one. My mind immediately begin surveying the colors I could pair this with. So many options and I was at a loss for a color. But after a couple of days of consideration, I decided to pair it with another newly arrival color.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>I was in purple mood so I thought why not go in that direction. This is just one coat of Party Rockin' over Dior Ultra Violet.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was pleasantly surprised to see how one coat resulted a nice coat of glitter. I debated on adding a second coat, but I decided this was a good look and stopped here.
</div>

<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Party Rockin' is a slightly blue jelly base jammed packed with a festive mix of vibrant glitter. I see gold, blue, purple, fuchsia and small iridescent glitter, and sprinkled with larger blue hex and bar glitter.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As with any glitter bombs, it's a bit bumpy. I used a good dose of Gelous, and then a co<span style="font-family: inherit;">at of Poshé. I think the smooth surface and added extra glossy top coat brings out the beauty of glitter even more. </span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I absolutely LOVE this! Party Rockin' is so gorgeous, way prettier in person than what you see here in my pictures. I couldn't take my eyes off my nails. It was so fun, pretty and so sparkly! My 5 year-old daughter couldn't stop marveling at my nails. She wanted her nails to be exactly the same. <span style="font-family: inherit;">I'm definitely rockin' party nails. <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Qn68g64MpoI/T6NP84rM2jI/AAAAAAAABRE/0v1JRQq8zFA/s1600/DSC_0282.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Qn68g64MpoI/T6NP84rM2jI/AAAAAAAABRE/0v1JRQq8zFA/s1600/DSC_0282.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
About a month ago, we took the kids to see the movie, Mirror Mirror. Julia Roberts stars as the evil Queen, and she had this amazingly beautiful gold nail polish on. The gold was not overly yellow gold, but paler and softer, almost matte, and yet mirror-like. Oh gosh, does that even make sense? While I thought the movie was "meh", I couldn't stop focusing in on the gold nail polish. It commanded my full attention throughout the movie. Seriously, I mentally went through every single gold polish I can think of, trying to figure out which one Miss Julia was wearing. It was a little crazy; I could not stop thinking about it. <br />
<br />
I recently participated in a nail polish box exchange. It just happens I was next in line to received the box of polish. When I went through all the bottles, I found this gold sitting in there, Essie Shift Power. This was released in winter 2008 collection, and apparently it's also know as Shifting Power. I'm not really sure why the two different names. Not a normal pick for me, but my recent gold obsessed self said "yes, let's give this a try!"<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>Shift Power is described as "sizzling molten gold"...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QVn8bgWe7HU/T6NPzMnxidI/AAAAAAAABRI/URKVLrHczHI/s1600/Essie_Shift+Power-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QVn8bgWe7HU/T6NPzMnxidI/AAAAAAAABRI/URKVLrHczHI/s1600/Essie_Shift+Power-1.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
Not the perfect gold on me, but it's okay. It is a bit warmer than what I was looking for, but not too awful.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dKbqhMb6C8I/T6NPzmirG5I/AAAAAAAABRM/cp42Fn28q9U/s1600/Essie_Shift+Power-2.JPG.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dKbqhMb6C8I/T6NPzmirG5I/AAAAAAAABRM/cp42Fn28q9U/s1600/Essie_Shift+Power-2.JPG.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
It was a bit too metallic and shimmery, so I decided to apply a layer of matte top coat. I actually like the matte look. It makes it more wearable for my skin tone.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jKgX-uZKlVA/T6NP2OxlYCI/AAAAAAAABRQ/wX9r-1lp1Z8/s1600/Essie_Shift+Power_Matte-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jKgX-uZKlVA/T6NP2OxlYCI/AAAAAAAABRQ/wX9r-1lp1Z8/s1600/Essie_Shift+Power_Matte-1.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Still a bit too warm for me, but the matte effect was the finish I was looking for. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vg_VzFQFWKY/T6NP3WvoesI/AAAAAAAABRY/dzW2POTEXYU/s1600/Essie_Shift+Power_Matte-2.JPG.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vg_VzFQFWKY/T6NP3WvoesI/AAAAAAAABRY/dzW2POTEXYU/s1600/Essie_Shift+Power_Matte-2.JPG.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
The formula on Shift Power was thin and runny. I ended up using four coats due to the sheerness of it. I wanted to cover up the visible nail line. And very typical of metallic nail polish, brush strokes tends to show. By matting the finish, it helps minimize some. I ended up wearing this mani for the next 3 days, and I did like it. It's a totally different look for me, but sometimes it's good step outside the box.BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-544132664303081363.post-76807951764470110542012-05-01T13:52:00.001-07:002012-05-01T13:56:14.028-07:00Orly After Party<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O-SvyGgrnoc/T55GY6YILnI/AAAAAAAABPU/P4k3lCpmNEI/s1600/DSC_0217.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O-SvyGgrnoc/T55GY6YILnI/AAAAAAAABPU/P4k3lCpmNEI/s1600/DSC_0217.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm a little out of the loop on new releases, so when I saw this Orly color at Ulta, I had no clue which collection this was part of. I own nothing like this color it in my collection, and it's perfect for my taste, so it came home with me. Because I love the color so much, I had to put it on immediately.<br />
<br />
Orly After Party is a brand new release for summer 2012 color collection called Feel the Vibe. Whoa, summer collection? This is not a color that comes to mind for summer. A quick google search took me to Feel the Vibe promo pictures, and After Party indeed stuck out among all the neons and brights in the collection. Personally, I think After Party would have been more fitting in the Dark Shadow collection instead. Regardless, I am very pleased with After Party.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>I'm really excited for After Party; just look at this on the nails! <br />

After Party did not disappoint. The color in the bottle is exactly what you will see on the nail. The formula was nice, very opaque. I used 2 coats here and added a glossy top coat. Without top coat, it dries to a finish similar to Chanel Graphite.</div>

<br />
I've falling terribly behind on my posts... Working a full-time job and still manage to fulfill my motherly duties has proved difficult in keeping up with my blog. Short on time, I decided instead of removing my previous mani of OPI Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI? I would try to make it last a couple days longer by layering a glittery top coat over it. <br />
<br />
As of late, I've falling into a mad obsession for indie concoctions. It's the latest rage in the nail polish community; I tried to avoid it, but I couldn't resist after seeing beautiful swatches posted over and over again everywhere on the internet. I had to give this a try! A great reason to reach for one of my newly acquired Haze Glaze Frozen Ube.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>In case you didn't know, "ube" is the Filipino word for purple yam. Have you ever seen a purple yam? On the outside, it's not much to look at. Once opened, a gorgeous purple color is revealed. I have to tell you the just-slightly dusty purple jelly base you see in the bottle pic above, is very well represented of the purple yam "ube" purple. Hazel gave her creation the perfect name!<br />
<br />
Here is Frozen Ube layered over OPI Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI?... Frozen Ube is a shimmering purple jelly filled with varying sizes and shapes of glitter of blue, silver and purple. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gFT9sYdRzn8/T5tF-kXZoyI/AAAAAAAABN0/O1AGQzAzVqM/s1600/HazeGlaze_Froze+Ube+over+OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gFT9sYdRzn8/T5tF-kXZoyI/AAAAAAAABN0/O1AGQzAzVqM/s1600/HazeGlaze_Froze+Ube+over+OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-1.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
The combination of the 2 nail polishes worked out better than I expected. I didn't realize how similar in the purple base they were, with Frozen Ube being a bit more vibrant.
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aaUd_ui7z1M/T5tF_la-dNI/AAAAAAAABN8/sfd1fwrFTJc/s1600/HazeGlaze_Frozen+Ube+over+OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aaUd_ui7z1M/T5tF_la-dNI/AAAAAAAABN8/sfd1fwrFTJc/s1600/HazeGlaze_Frozen+Ube+over+OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-2.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
Overall, good formula. I'm usually a bit challenged when it comes to applying chunky glitter nail polish, so I was not expecting for perfect application. I did my usual thing of dotting first, then spread it out method. The larger hex glitters needed a bit of digging out from the bottle.
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L-CSh7GWnTg/T5tGAfiP4YI/AAAAAAAABOA/O_2q8LuwQ1k/s1600/HazeGlaze_Frozen+Ube+over+OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-3.JPG.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L-CSh7GWnTg/T5tGAfiP4YI/AAAAAAAABOA/O_2q8LuwQ1k/s1600/HazeGlaze_Frozen+Ube+over+OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-3.JPG.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
Glitter tend to settle down on the bottom, so before application, I would advise that you set the bottle upside down for 5 minutes or so before use. I can't tell if there are any steel beads in there... I don't think so, but I'm not for certain. I may drop a couple in there next time to see if that helps stir up the glitter. <br />
<br />
I loved this mani. I'm actually a little sad that my pictures didn't capture the real beauty of Frozen Ube. It's even more beautiful in person. What I love even more is that this mani wore so well; I kept it on for another 3 days. Trust me. that is a long time for me.<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Aqb4K-mPKJE/T4-jzzND9HI/AAAAAAAABL4/a3CETXzqBQM/s1600/DSC_0392.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Aqb4K-mPKJE/T4-jzzND9HI/AAAAAAAABL4/a3CETXzqBQM/s1600/DSC_0392.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI? is just one of twelve colors released for the spring/summer 2012, Holland collection. <br />
<br />
Tooted as being nearly identical by the nail polish addict community, I skipped over Zoya Tru for Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI? Though both have great formulas, I simply have a preference for the flat OPI pro-wide brush.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eGrUrPUWTmw/T4-hTZ43beI/AAAAAAAABMY/S4OhpmMZ-Do/s1600/OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eGrUrPUWTmw/T4-hTZ43beI/AAAAAAAABMY/S4OhpmMZ-Do/s1600/OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-1.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI? is a beautiful, slightly muted, red based grape purple crème. What makes this particular color special is the golden shimmer, which is very reminiscent of rose gold.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZksjjTU4Eb4/T4-ha230BlI/AAAAAAAABMU/l_H40YiOUPw/s1600/OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZksjjTU4Eb4/T4-ha230BlI/AAAAAAAABMU/l_H40YiOUPw/s1600/OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-2.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
The shimmer is not super obvious, but definitely detectable with the light shinning on it. Here's a close-up for a better look at the shimmer...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uSOO5pp5KQw/T4-nrfDEoYI/AAAAAAAABM0/b6_mxbAtegE/s1600/OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uSOO5pp5KQw/T4-nrfDEoYI/AAAAAAAABM0/b6_mxbAtegE/s1600/OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-2.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
OPI didn't disappoint on this one. The formula was smooth and with great opaque coverage. I used 2 coats here. On the nail, the color looks to have dried a bit darker than it appeared in the bottle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6nqfPGbwkJc/T4-hbbjDEcI/AAAAAAAABMQ/T5c8oI_BbDw/s1600/OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6nqfPGbwkJc/T4-hbbjDEcI/AAAAAAAABMQ/T5c8oI_BbDw/s1600/OPI_Dutch+%2527Ya+Just+Love+OPI-3.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Though the purple is not super original, the shimmer makes Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI? a sure standout for me. If already own Zoya True, then I think you are safe skipping this one... unless you are a die-hard collector of course.</div>BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-544132664303081363.post-75853078544972233842012-04-12T00:06:00.001-07:002012-04-12T00:09:42.141-07:00Deborah Lippmann Waking Up In Vegas<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xR2d8yoly_s/T4Za0_39WhI/AAAAAAAABKU/csh3hLYerYg/s1600/DSC_2034.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xR2d8yoly_s/T4Za0_39WhI/AAAAAAAABKU/csh3hLYerYg/s1600/DSC_2034.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Although named after a Katy Perry song, Waking Up In Vegas, from Deborah Lippmann spring 2010 collection, was made famous by Lady Gaga. Any nail polish addict would remember infamous September 2010 front cover of <i>Vanity Fair UK. </i>Lady Gaga was photographed, wearing nothing but a to-die-for sparkling diamond choker by Fred Leighton, and beautiful manicured grey nails. The cement grey nail polish was an instant hit, and became the much talked about "it" color everyone wanted to have. <br />
<br />
Described as "putty-liscious gray", Waking Up In Vegas is a warmer version of grey. The super chic color is midway between grey and beige, making it very wearable for all skin tones. A hip and fashionable color, but still remains very wearable for the office.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-adCg4swLO1c/T4Za8fjFfaI/AAAAAAAABKI/aF5MEgOHz2E/s1600/DL_Waking+Up+In+Vegas-1.JPG.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-adCg4swLO1c/T4Za8fjFfaI/AAAAAAAABKI/aF5MEgOHz2E/s1600/DL_Waking+Up+In+Vegas-1.JPG.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
A very pigmented crème, the color applied nice and opaque. I did end up using 3 coats, but that's because my nail ridges were driving me crazy. I was working hard to cover them, trying to carefully apply even coats. As you can see from the pictures, the ridges on my nails became very visible after application.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YIgDt6hhmFQ/T4Za9aEFfOI/AAAAAAAABKA/yVQSIVcAucM/s1600/DL_Waking+Up+In+Vegas-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YIgDt6hhmFQ/T4Za9aEFfOI/AAAAAAAABKA/yVQSIVcAucM/s1600/DL_Waking+Up+In+Vegas-2.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
Waking Up In Vegas dries fast. So I'm not convinced all the lines on my nails are ridges, but maybe some are partially due to brush strokes as well.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vkZP10bGe6E/T4Za9ucOS7I/AAAAAAAABJ8/suTboAaeRHk/s1600/DL_Waking+Up+In+Vegas-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vkZP10bGe6E/T4Za9ucOS7I/AAAAAAAABJ8/suTboAaeRHk/s1600/DL_Waking+Up+In+Vegas-3.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm also showing you the color without any top coat. One, being that it really didn't need it since it dried quickly. But mainly because I wanted to show you the true nature of the finish. It's not glossy and it's not matte. It's best described as a satin finish. It took me a bit to get used to, but I ended up wearing it as is. If this is a look you're not used to, then go ahead and slap on some glossy top coat. It will still look beautiful and amazing! Plus, it will take care of those ridges.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Waking Up In Vegas is such a beautiful neutral color that I'd say it's a must for any collection.</div>BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-544132664303081363.post-69888525994811112092012-04-08T18:47:00.001-07:002012-04-08T18:53:28.963-07:00An Easter Mani<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Good evening everyone! For those that celebrated Easter, I hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend with family and friends. We are pretty low key here, but my kids sure do enjoy their Easter basket goodies. Chocolate bunnies and jelly beans galore; what's not to love, right? Well, I am now patiently awaiting for their sugar high to come crashing down. Believe me, it can't come soon enough. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am still working through my stash of "untrieds" and weed out the colors that are not working for me. Pastels are not colors I normally reach for, and I don't own many colors falling in that category. I'm trying to step of my comfort zone and try something different. Needless to say, Easter is the perfect opportunity to challenge myself. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Honestly, I am not very good with nail art, and work has been extremely time demanding these past couple of months. I haven't had time for myself, forget about putting thoughts in planning out my mani. I usually grab whatever color is close, usually that has been whatever nail mail has just arrived. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="text-align: left;">Creative nail art I am not. I just needed something simple and super quick, and this was the result...</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4Co52DZi2ZA/T4IDLVzrUQI/AAAAAAAABIQ/pVzGpMmxzFs/s1600/Easter+Mani_2012-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4Co52DZi2ZA/T4IDLVzrUQI/AAAAAAAABIQ/pVzGpMmxzFs/s1600/Easter+Mani_2012-1.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="text-align: left;">A combination of Essie Nice Is Nice and OPI Rainbow Connection.</span>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GhjsuZ0Z0gM/T4IDL4miGLI/AAAAAAAABIU/7DV16AS7yoU/s1600/Easter+Mani_2012-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GhjsuZ0Z0gM/T4IDL4miGLI/AAAAAAAABIU/7DV16AS7yoU/s1600/Easter+Mani_2012-2.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
I actually started out with just pastel nails, using Essie Nice Is Nice. But after 2 coats, I found the coverage still rather sheer. Then, I had an idea to add glitter and make it a glitter sandwich. My prior attempt at a glitter jelly sandwich was rather unsuccessful, so I hoped for better luck with a different variation of the same concept.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n_51N_iRujA/T4IDMauc5LI/AAAAAAAABIY/uG8X0mRZqC0/s1600/Easter+Mani_2012-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n_51N_iRujA/T4IDMauc5LI/AAAAAAAABIY/uG8X0mRZqC0/s1600/Easter+Mani_2012-3.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After laying down a third coat of Essie Nice Is Nice, I did a coat of OPI Rainbow Connection. Yes, folks, that is 3 layers of base color. And topping another coat of Essie Nice Is Nice over the glitter, then adding a good layer of fast dry top coat.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-51VMJr-QFcM/T4IDMphB5cI/AAAAAAAABIc/mK238Yikgg4/s1600/Easter+Mani_2012-4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-51VMJr-QFcM/T4IDMphB5cI/AAAAAAAABIc/mK238Yikgg4/s1600/Easter+Mani_2012-4.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm rather pleased with the result. Definitely liking this much more than my glitter jelly sandwich mani. My 5 year-old loves it and wants me to do the same with her nails. I think this is a fun look and will be doinng more experimenting with layering glitter.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

The kids are on spring break, so it's time for me to return to the family for movie night. <br />
Haze Glaze is an independent brand I recently discovered. I only picked up 2 colors to try out, but I have to say her glitter color creations are just fantastic! They are even prettier in real life than in pictures. I wish I had picked up a couple more colors.<br />
<br />
For my first Haze Glaze mani, I decided to try out Mystique. Mystique is dark blue jelly base filled with various sizes of hexagonal and square glitter, in blue, gold, silver and brown. So beautiful! Because it was a jelly, I decided my best bet was to layer it. Besides, I didn't want to unnecessarily waste a drop of this concoction.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>Wow, this even better than on the nail than in the bottle!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As base, I used 2 coats of Sinful Colors What's Your Name?, a blue shimmer in black base polish. Then, I layered 2 coats of Haze Glaze Mystique.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Can I just say "WOW"! The bottle is just pack with glitter. I adore the combination. I'm looking forward to trying my next Haze Glaze soon! <br />

Here'a an oldie that doesn't get much attention. This is Misbehaving Mistress from Shades by Barielle, a Barielle color line introduced in the fall of 2008, in a collection called Fall Affair. Notice the bottle design? It does look a bit dated, right? The newer Barielle bottles don't have that same bottle design. I'd say a definite improvement. <br />
<br />
Even for an oldie, Misbehaving Mistress was, and still is a very unique color. It actually stands out and apart from all the other charcoal based colors in my collection. The polish name, Misbehaving Mistress... I find it highly amusing. Not really sure why, but I do. To me, the color is very fitting to the name.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Misbehaving Mistress is a mix of deep charcoal and brown, with a fair amount of silver shimmer running through. It has a super glossy finish, so even though I am highly addicted to fast-dry top coat, I went without on this particular mani.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cRY9q-E_OOo/T2v3BXOcsdI/AAAAAAAABEw/QOxZYgCEH_0/s1600/Barielle_Misbehaving+Mistress-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cRY9q-E_OOo/T2v3BXOcsdI/AAAAAAAABEw/QOxZYgCEH_0/s1600/Barielle_Misbehaving+Mistress-1.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-axMBcqixQAo/T2v3CdVDpRI/AAAAAAAABE4/GUUOHtbPJ-8/s1600/Barielle_Misbehaving+Mistress-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-axMBcqixQAo/T2v3CdVDpRI/AAAAAAAABE4/GUUOHtbPJ-8/s1600/Barielle_Misbehaving+Mistress-2.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The color has the perfect balance of graphite and brown. If I had to classify the color, I would say it's definitely more brown based than black. It's dark on the nails, but does not look near black. </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-doGbfB1uMrA/T2wH7Px-ozI/AAAAAAAABFA/j-lyDeXKmzM/s1600/Barielle_Misbehaving+Mistress-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-doGbfB1uMrA/T2wH7Px-ozI/AAAAAAAABFA/j-lyDeXKmzM/s1600/Barielle_Misbehaving+Mistress-3.JPG" /></a></div><br />
It just shines in the sunlight. The marriage of graphite, brown and the silver shimmer, gives off a smooth, almost metallic-like appearance. Here's a closer look at the beautiful shimmer...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E-AMRWPkRCE/T2v3DOkvQjI/AAAAAAAABFM/m8huQU331Lk/s1600/Barielle_Misbehaving+Mistress-4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E-AMRWPkRCE/T2v3DOkvQjI/AAAAAAAABFM/m8huQU331Lk/s1600/Barielle_Misbehaving+Mistress-4.JPG" /></a></div><br />
The almost jell-like consistency made it very easy to apply to the nails. I did find it a tad sheer though. It was important to wait for the nail to dry completely before adding another coat. Otherwise, it would be prone to bald spots. I did experience that on a couple of nails, so the result you see here is 3 coats of polish.<br />
<br />
I'm absolutely smitten with this color. It's so unique and amazing looking that I am willing to over-look the sheerness factor. This would also make a great layering polish. I can't wait to play around and experiment.BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-544132664303081363.post-79466477025682566772012-03-18T00:08:00.000-07:002012-03-18T00:08:20.771-07:00China Glaze Starboard<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--JuN77cnivw/T2VfuoJO83I/AAAAAAAABCo/11mwtdSJHgs/s1600/DSC_0315.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--JuN77cnivw/T2VfuoJO83I/AAAAAAAABCo/11mwtdSJHgs/s1600/DSC_0315.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Hope everyone had a wonderful Saint Patrick's Day. As usual, I'm late in the game to posting my holiday/celebration themed mani. I can blame the awful weather we have had all week. Raining days make for terrible picture taking. I still gave it a shot because the color was just too pretty not to share. <br />
<br />
Gone are the days of sharing a pitcher of green beer with my friends. What's changed? Kids and the fact I'm just getting older. But we still can have fun and celebrate a little right? Aside from the usual corned beef and cabbage dinner, which was super yummy by the way, I also sported a green mani my kids approved.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>Starboard is from China Glaze Anchors Away collection, released in spring of 2011. This was a green I didn't think I would like when it was first released. Then about a month ago, I spotted the green bottle in the clearance bin over at Ulta. Who am I to walk away from a bargain? I don't own many greens, so this was a easy green pick for me. Can I just say how glad I got this color? Wow, I'm loving this green!<br />
<br />
You have to excuse the mani since it's actually a couple days old. Even though it's not a fresh mani, I still had to share. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PR5HH5FgR2w/T2Vfqw8mzxI/AAAAAAAABC0/j_dBa7WNgBg/s1600/ChG_Starboard-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PR5HH5FgR2w/T2Vfqw8mzxI/AAAAAAAABC0/j_dBa7WNgBg/s1600/ChG_Starboard-1.JPG" /></a></div><br />
This is definitely a true green. It doesn't lean too yellow, nor does it lean blue. I have heard it being referred as "grass green". I have to say I agree.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-deSlSugrQ1s/T2Vfql31XbI/AAAAAAAABC8/-ARATuURut8/s1600/ChG_Starboard-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-deSlSugrQ1s/T2Vfql31XbI/AAAAAAAABC8/-ARATuURut8/s1600/ChG_Starboard-3.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cQ-fg3UHTAY/T2Vfp8HNVNI/AAAAAAAABDA/R5LDjMeXkU4/s1600/ChG_Starboard-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cQ-fg3UHTAY/T2Vfp8HNVNI/AAAAAAAABDA/R5LDjMeXkU4/s1600/ChG_Starboard-2.JPG" /></a></div><br />
A crème formula, having a jelly-like quality to it; and it dried to super nice glossy finish. This was 2 beautiful smooth coats. I think Starboard has amazing wear-power on me. I'm on day 3, and I think it's still looking good, though a bit more tip wear is showing. I can't get over how much I'm loving this color on me. This is a definite "must" for any green lovers out there.BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-544132664303081363.post-78875821566477687222012-03-17T15:24:00.001-07:002012-03-22T22:25:10.452-07:00Dior Vernis Garden Party Collection: Waterlily 504 and Forget-Me-Not 694<div style="text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eb1gK4H_2Cw/T2LqYoWVptI/AAAAAAAABBE/J1HOJCtPGx0/s1600/DSC_2141.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eb1gK4H_2Cw/T2LqYoWVptI/AAAAAAAABBE/J1HOJCtPGx0/s1600/DSC_2141.JPG" /></a></div><br />
From Dior Garden Party, the spring 2012 collection includes two new limited-edition colors: Waterlily and Forget-Me-Not. I have to say the colors were very well chosen. They captured the essence of a spring garden perfectly. When I look at the colors, my mind immediately conjures up images of a Claude Monet painting. Beautiful. <br />
<br />
Not only are these colors visually appealing, Dior decided to appeal to another one of our senses... smell. By now, I'm sure you have all heard these are scented. Again, taking the garden theme to heart, these carry a subtle scent of roses.<br />
<br />
I know, I'm a little late to Garden Party. I originally wrote off the collection, not because I didn't find the colors beautiful, but because I'm not much of a pastel color wearing gal. As always, something about Dior colors always end up pulling me in... I gave up fighting and grabbed the colors. So shall we get started?<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>Let's begin with what has been dubbed by most, as the star of the collection: Waterlily. Waterlily is a beautiful soft pale green. It looks a bit minty and leafy green with subtle, but detectable shimmer under the sunlight. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K7Fju-jg4DQ/T2LrSEaTozI/AAAAAAAABBg/jZuECjrse6o/s1600/Dior_Waterlily-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K7Fju-jg4DQ/T2LrSEaTozI/AAAAAAAABBg/jZuECjrse6o/s1600/Dior_Waterlily-1.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jT3E3c2VSuA/T2LrTO0V_dI/AAAAAAAABBk/Tjuu1zpHu7Q/s1600/Dior_Waterlily-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jT3E3c2VSuA/T2LrTO0V_dI/AAAAAAAABBk/Tjuu1zpHu7Q/s1600/Dior_Waterlily-2.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I don't own many greens because it's a color I find very difficult for me to pull off. But this is such a stunning color, way too difficult for me to resist.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VaQaaFu7zA0/T2LrTpHhM9I/AAAAAAAABBo/AHw9e7YtG_w/s1600/Dior_Waterlily-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VaQaaFu7zA0/T2LrTpHhM9I/AAAAAAAABBo/AHw9e7YtG_w/s1600/Dior_Waterlily-3.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">When you wear Waterlily, you get a lot of compliments. That is exactly what happened to me, literally minutes stepping out of the house. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rvcgGJbJRlU/T2LrT2ojkHI/AAAAAAAABBs/oEFrt7_U4Gs/s1600/Dior_Waterlily-4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rvcgGJbJRlU/T2LrT2ojkHI/AAAAAAAABBs/oEFrt7_U4Gs/s1600/Dior_Waterlily-4.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Love the color! However, I have to be honest and say that the formula on Waterlily was somewhat challenging in comparison to all my other Diors. It was a little thicker than usual, and it didn't apply quite as nice or smooth. Maybe I have been spoiled by Dior in the past; but if I am paying the premium price tag, I am allowed to have a higher set of expectations. In the end though, I can't really deny the beauty of this color. So yes, I will suck it up and be prepared to work more carefully and diligently. <br />
<br />
The second color in the collection is Forget-Me-Not. It is a cool, soft medium toned purple with a mixed base of blue and pink. The color has a slight muted quality to it, making this purple shade flattering and very wearable, even for warmer skin tones.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-18gUtP9kJ9g/T2Lq_RrZ5TI/AAAAAAAABBY/hFcQulbTsOo/s1600/Dior_Forget-Me-Not-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-18gUtP9kJ9g/T2Lq_RrZ5TI/AAAAAAAABBY/hFcQulbTsOo/s1600/Dior_Forget-Me-Not-3.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Forget-Me-Not has that Dior signature crème formula with the sparse hidden shimmer they are widely known for. On the nails, the shimmer is not visible, but you can see it in the bottle when under direct sunlight.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JIg_Fdx_5a4/T2Lq-WnrVxI/AAAAAAAABBQ/-uINRoj5FyE/s1600/Dior_Forget-Me-Not-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JIg_Fdx_5a4/T2Lq-WnrVxI/AAAAAAAABBQ/-uINRoj5FyE/s1600/Dior_Forget-Me-Not-1.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-J-69r2Bc5_k/T2Lq_7hIVII/AAAAAAAABBc/SufwQHKO2Gs/s1600/Dior_Forget-Me-Not-4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-J-69r2Bc5_k/T2Lq_7hIVII/AAAAAAAABBc/SufwQHKO2Gs/s1600/Dior_Forget-Me-Not-4.JPG" /></a></div><br />
The consistency was thinner, making application very easy. It's not a one coat formula, so 2 coats are needed for even coverage. Drying time was great; I didn't have to wait long before adding additional coats. I did use 3 thin coats total.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-euCaGoqQ1AA/T2Lq-_U0XLI/AAAAAAAABBU/g86c1FOgt1s/s1600/Dior_Forget-Me-Not-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-euCaGoqQ1AA/T2Lq-_U0XLI/AAAAAAAABBU/g86c1FOgt1s/s1600/Dior_Forget-Me-Not-2.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Although the color is not very unique, Forget-Me-Not is still very beautiful. I don't have anything close to it my collection, though at first I thought I did. A lot of people thought it was too close to Dior's Purple Mix, but it's not. It may be along the same lineage color-wise, but Purple Mix is darker and a bit smokier. Forget-Me-Not is lighter without being classified as a pastel, yet still evoke the feeling of "spring". I think a color comparison may be in order for a future post.<br />
<br />
To my very pleasant surprise, I am loving the color! I really didn't expect this at all. I certainly appreciate the gorgeousness of Waterlily, but I dare to say I am more in love with Forget-Me-Not. Yes, I am the minority here. But the simple fact is Forget-Me-Not is much more suitable and flattering on me than Waterlily. In the end, isn't that what it's all about? What looks good on me?<br />
<br />
Before I forget, let's talk about the rose scent. In the beginning, I was very concerned. I'm not a fan of scented nail polish because they tend to smell too artificial and even too strong. I was happy to find that the duo was not too bad. The rose water-like scent was mild enough that I am able to tolerate it. Admirers of my manis could not even detect the rose scent, and probably thought I was pulling their leg when I told them they were scented. The rose scent is strongest upon initial application. It dissipated quick enough so it was not bothersome. <br />
<br />
To sum this all up: great collection Dior! Waterlily has become a bit difficult to come by now. It's been out-of-stock on Dior.com and other online retailers. Your best bet would to look for this at a retail location or Dior boutique. Forget-Me-Not is well worth having. It's such a flattering soft purple, so do take a look.</div>BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-544132664303081363.post-91924223698284158872012-03-10T23:42:00.003-08:002012-03-10T23:44:36.742-08:00Ozotic 513<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UIcaMu03XAM/T1wq24SLqNI/AAAAAAAAA7Q/ruc2vP66lLE/s1600/Ozotic-513-bottle.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UIcaMu03XAM/T1wq24SLqNI/AAAAAAAAA7Q/ruc2vP66lLE/s1600/Ozotic-513-bottle.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Ozotic is an Australian brand nail polish I have been wanting and waiting to try for a long long time. What attracted me immediately to this brand is their holographic colors. Not just any old holographic nail polish, but linear holographic! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Sadly, I never did take the plunge. I've admired them from afar, staring at beautiful swatches posted over my favorite nail blogs. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Do you see that rainbow effect? That's what you call a linear holo! Under direct sunlight, the full spectrum of colors shines through.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vQm2kiijhwQ/T1w7AoSpFWI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/IVSWbBAvkEk/s1600/Ozotic_513-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vQm2kiijhwQ/T1w7AoSpFWI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/IVSWbBAvkEk/s1600/Ozotic_513-2.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">A lot of holographic nail polish can be a little challenging to apply, but I did not have any issues here. I started out with a thin coat. Drying time was pretty good, so it was not too long before I added my next coat. I could have probably got away with 2 coats, but I did 3 because I like the deeper purple look. I love a rich looking purple, it's so eye-catching and regal.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DCvyVWjK5fk/T1w7BIXlXrI/AAAAAAAAA8U/Ji1YgtPh7ns/s1600/Ozotic_513-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DCvyVWjK5fk/T1w7BIXlXrI/AAAAAAAAA8U/Ji1YgtPh7ns/s1600/Ozotic_513-3.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I also must add that I used no top coat here because I was afraid that it would dull the holographic effect. However, I've have since read that fast-drying top coats (my favorite kind) will not lessen the look. I will have to test that out when I wear my other Ozotic colors.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JRTr8wCWxno/T1w7BqUyUwI/AAAAAAAAA8Q/pAq5_1w6P6k/s1600/Ozotic_513-4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JRTr8wCWxno/T1w7BqUyUwI/AAAAAAAAA8Q/pAq5_1w6P6k/s1600/Ozotic_513-4.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This also wore really well on me. Most of the time, holographic nail polish will only last a day, maybe 2 on me. I have been wearing this mani for 3 days now, and probably can go another day. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here's a close-up of the this amazing color... rainbow skittles.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This just looks so amazing; I can't stop looking at my nails! I'm so ashamed for waiting so long to wear this. But believe me, I'm not going to wait too long before I put on the next Ozotic color. </div>BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-544132664303081363.post-34245713602683082412012-02-07T21:18:00.000-08:002012-02-07T21:20:28.117-08:00Project Red: Ulta Professional What a Maroon<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-C1wS3-YRPlc/TzC6XvCgyZI/AAAAAAAAA4M/sDkMw5_Sv1k/s1600/UltaPro_What+a+Maroon-bottle.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-C1wS3-YRPlc/TzC6XvCgyZI/AAAAAAAAA4M/sDkMw5_Sv1k/s1600/UltaPro_What+a+Maroon-bottle.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I couldn't resist this little beauty when I found it over in the clearance section at Ulta. Yes, perhaps I have too many reds already. But quite honestly, it's really hard to resist a great shade of red, especially at a bargain price. I admit it, I am weak to bargains. I think that may be my problem too.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">What a Maroon definitely is lighter than what the name may suggest. Not nearly dark enough to be called "maroon", but it is a very beautiful, medium toned red with a slight brown base. It's a crème that is "jelly-like", with definite transparent quality to it. I have no idea if the color is part of any collection, but it looks like Waht a Maroon may have been a limited color, or it was discontinued.</div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I used three coats here. My nail lines are still somewhat detectable, especially under direct sunlight. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">From the bottle, the color looks to be a bit darker than it does on the nails. Perhaps if I added another coat I would reach that deeper color. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7opshfWV5SY/TzC6ZT3ggOI/AAAAAAAAA4Y/eM1jYYlGYHo/s1600/UltaPro_What+a+Maroon-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7opshfWV5SY/TzC6ZT3ggOI/AAAAAAAAA4Y/eM1jYYlGYHo/s1600/UltaPro_What+a+Maroon-3.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PRXjWAN4Y9s/TzC6aP7ZnFI/AAAAAAAAA4c/VL9lHHCgJoo/s1600/UltaPro_What+a+Maroon-4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PRXjWAN4Y9s/TzC6aP7ZnFI/AAAAAAAAA4c/VL9lHHCgJoo/s1600/UltaPro_What+a+Maroon-4.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The formulation was terrific, not too thick or too watery. It applied beautifully onto the nail, and dried to a very nice glossy finish. I did use Poshe here since I'm helplessly addicted to quick-dry top coat. I cannot go without it because I have very little patience for waiting for my nails to dry. When it comes to having pretty painted nails, I'm all about instant gratification.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Ulta actually has two different nail polish lines: Ulta Salon Formula and the higher-end Ulta Professional. I own quite a few colors from both lines, and I find them both to be nicely formulated. I think they are good solid nail polish and I have yet to be disappointed. The color selection is somewhat limited, so perhaps that's way they haven't received as much love and attention from the general nail polish community. </div>BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-544132664303081363.post-266616299702048252012-01-30T20:01:00.000-08:002012-01-30T20:01:34.023-08:00Project Red: A Quick UpdateThe new year has been incredibly busy for me so far. Something I didn't really expect. Each week, I think to myself that I will have more time the following week, but so far that theory has not held up. Honestly, when I first started Project Red, I had anticipated to be posting more frequently than I have been. Needless to say, I am very behind in posting and I actually have a few backlog of red manis to share still. <br />
<br />
Even with all the craziness, I have stayed true to my Project Red. There was half a day that I went au natural because I had a funeral service to attend. Although it may have been perfectly fine to put on a darker red, I just felt it was better if I went without.<br />
<br />
I am hoping work will settle down soon, and I will finally get a bit more free time. So that my red manis don't go to waste, I have decided to extend my Project Red beyond the month of January, and go through to Valentine's Day. I hope my readers will bear with me and continue to come by to pay me a visit. I promise to back soon with a red mani post.BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-544132664303081363.post-82717809807281305152012-01-24T22:25:00.000-08:002012-01-24T23:30:30.558-08:00Project Red: Chanel Le Vernis Dragon 475 - Ringing in the Year of the Dragon<div style="text-align: justify;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s3es7ArbwfQ/Tx5Zzp19a6I/AAAAAAAAA3A/-eTFBtLV9Ec/s1600/Chanel_Dragon-bottle2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s3es7ArbwfQ/Tx5Zzp19a6I/AAAAAAAAA3A/-eTFBtLV9Ec/s1600/Chanel_Dragon-bottle2.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><br />

Pulling out an oldie from a few years back... OPI Royal Rajah Ruby was released in spring 2008, part of the India collection. It's a blackened ruby red with red micro-shimmer. I love vampy colors, so it's no wonder that I couldn't resist this beautiful ruby version.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3Gq2gguE12o/TxuRoRzHUSI/AAAAAAAAA0g/nOwBpIUjEzg/s1600/OPI_Royal+Rajah+Ruby-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3Gq2gguE12o/TxuRoRzHUSI/AAAAAAAAA0g/nOwBpIUjEzg/s1600/OPI_Royal+Rajah+Ruby-1.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<a name='more'></a>The red shimmer may be difficult to detect from a distance, and not as noticeable to most, but I still find the color stunning nonetheless.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5VsdgrdyePI/TxuRpAOYsBI/AAAAAAAAA0k/SN1nmyDr0QI/s1600/OPI_Royal+Rajah+Ruby-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5VsdgrdyePI/TxuRpAOYsBI/AAAAAAAAA0k/SN1nmyDr0QI/s1600/OPI_Royal+Rajah+Ruby-2.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Royal Rajah Ruby really shines under bright lighting, so it's one of those colors that may be considered almost-black in most lighting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EcDQ6cXrUyY/TxuRpoJwUXI/AAAAAAAAA0o/sE0aWqnhkV0/s1600/OPI_Royal+Rajah+Ruby-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EcDQ6cXrUyY/TxuRpoJwUXI/AAAAAAAAA0o/sE0aWqnhkV0/s1600/OPI_Royal+Rajah+Ruby-3.JPG" /></a></div><br />
In some lights, I detected a hint of "warmth" to the color, having a very autumn vibe to it. Royal Rajah Ruby is definitely well suited for fall and winter. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CUUs9Cl6zgU/TxuRp0RtQbI/AAAAAAAAA0s/_0_cMulzGKs/s1600/OPI_Royal+Rajah+Ruby-4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CUUs9Cl6zgU/TxuRp0RtQbI/AAAAAAAAA0s/_0_cMulzGKs/s1600/OPI_Royal+Rajah+Ruby-4.JPG" /></a></div><br />
While I thought this was a color well suited for the India collection, I did find it a bit odd for it to be released for spring. For spring, I imagined lighter shades, and not so much dark colors. But I'm not complaining since I do love my dark vampy colors. The formula on it was okay. If you wait enough time between coats, you should be able to get even coverage with 2 coats. I ended up doing 3 because I got some bald spot due to my inpatient nature.BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-544132664303081363.post-83510964466942929582012-01-18T20:23:00.000-08:002012-01-22T11:24:12.694-08:00Project Red: Barielle Glammed Out Garnet<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MQs4oAN8Ysw/Txd6mt2rTII/AAAAAAAAAyM/2-Y2AsTAUI0/s1600/Barielle_Glammed+Out+Garnet-bottle.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MQs4oAN8Ysw/Txd6mt2rTII/AAAAAAAAAyM/2-Y2AsTAUI0/s1600/Barielle_Glammed+Out+Garnet-bottle.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Barielle Glammed Out Garnet is from their fall 2009 collection, All Lacquered Up, a collaboration with, of course, Michelle Mismas of <a href="http://www.alllacqueredup.com/2009/07/all-lacquered-up-collection-from.html">All Lacquered Up</a>. If you haven't seen the collection, you must. The collection consists a total of twelve colors. Yes, that's right, twelve! And I have to say that although I don't own all of the colors, I do own several, but I really love them all.<br />
<br />
Now, back to Glammed Out Garnet... <br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>This is no ordinary red, it's a deep berry red with tons of sparkle. Did I forget to say gorgeous sparkle? It's not glitter sparkle, but little glass-flecks sparkle. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-olw27BH_SM8/Txd6YChC2tI/AAAAAAAAAyI/BDO3yc7NNTk/s1600/Barielle_Glammed+Out+Garnet-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-olw27BH_SM8/Txd6YChC2tI/AAAAAAAAAyI/BDO3yc7NNTk/s1600/Barielle_Glammed+Out+Garnet-1.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It's a beautiful fall/winter red. In the shade, the deep red looks to have just a slight touch of brown base to it.</div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">In the sun, the sparkle takes center stage and you can see how the flashes of red and magenta shimmers.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This is a "must-see in person" kind of color. My pictures do not do the gorgeousness of this color any justice whatsoever. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Glammed Out Garnet is a beautiful richer variation on the classic red, but with sparkles added. If you don't have this one, I suggest you pick one up soon. The <a href="http://www.barielle.com/">Barielle</a> website often have terrific sales and deals, so there's really no excuse for not picking-up this color soon. I can promise you won't regret getting this one.</div>BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-544132664303081363.post-56937113829684415262012-01-13T23:28:00.000-08:002012-01-13T23:28:06.957-08:00Project Red: Essie Fishnet Stockings<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xX2kLQgbbrk/TxEciYSiwvI/AAAAAAAAAuc/NXj9NjWar9M/s1600/DSC_0205.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xX2kLQgbbrk/TxEciYSiwvI/AAAAAAAAAuc/NXj9NjWar9M/s1600/DSC_0205.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Hot! That's how I would describe Essie Fishnet Stockings. A true crimson crème, with a slight darkness to it, making it even more alluring. I don't know what it was that attracted me to this one... maybe the gorgeous color, or perhaps the sexy name on the bottle. Either way, I couldn't resist it. Apparently, I am not alone on this one. I read somewhere that Fishnet Stockings was Dita Von Teese's signature nail color. Well, I can certainly see why Miss Von Teese would favor this classic red beauty.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>After application, my first thought was that the color looked a little light than it appears in the bottle. The red is vibrant, but yet a bit muted too so that it's very wearable.<br />
<br />

It's not so bright that it's screams cherry red, and there is no orange in it at all so it's very wearable for all skin tones.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hX3EA8li460/TxEfp4FKxUI/AAAAAAAAAvY/4Fy_WWEk66k/s1600/Essie_Fishnet+Stockings-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hX3EA8li460/TxEfp4FKxUI/AAAAAAAAAvY/4Fy_WWEk66k/s1600/Essie_Fishnet+Stockings-2.JPG" /></a></div><br />
The color deepens indoors, which I would associate it as being similar to blood red. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Bo1zIlfDN6k/TxEceyTIDSI/AAAAAAAAAvM/FGVTfTHwCcQ/s1600/Essie_Fishnet+Stockings-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Bo1zIlfDN6k/TxEceyTIDSI/AAAAAAAAAvM/FGVTfTHwCcQ/s1600/Essie_Fishnet+Stockings-3.JPG" /></a></div><br />
The formula was good, though it felt like it had a slightly thinner consistency. I didn't have any application problems; and the two coats I used provided nice coverage. <br />
<br />
I don't know what it was, but wearing this color on my nails felt sexy, and a bit naughty. Perhaps it was the name, and that subconsciously, I couldn't get Fishnet Stocking out of my mind. It was like having a sexy secret... When you wear lacy lingerie underneath a pair of comfy old jeans and t-shirt. Whatever it was, I give Essie high props for her smart marketing on this one. And the fact remains that Fishnet Stockings is one hot looking red!BluMochihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00084110395998311380noreply@blogger.com5
