Project Red: OPI OPI Red

No, that's not a typo in the title.  This OPI nail color is really named OPI Red, thus the double "OPI" in title.  A little confusing right?

When I first saw this one, I assumed it was your basic pretty red crème and  it just sat in my drawer untouched.  Most of my red stash are crèmes, and I have a few favorites that get more love and attention from me.  I kind of forgot about OPI Red until I started pulling out my untried reds for this project.  I did my first scan of colors and came up with my list.  This one almost didn't made the cut, but I'm sure glad it did!   All this time, as it sat in my drawer, I just assumed it was a basic crème .

Well, I was so wrong about that!  Once I applied the color on my nail, I was head over heels in love with it!

OPI Red is a beautiful neutral toned classic red, with sliver micro-shimmer.  The shimmer is very subtle that I didn't realize it was there until I started applying the color to my nails.  I have no idea why I never noticed the shimmer in the bottle.  Again, my camera is really drawn to the silver micro-shimmer that it's making it look a bit more pink.  

So I feel like I need to take back what I said before about not liking the "pink" shimmering look on red.  On this particular OPI color, I am really loving it!  The barely there shimmer creates a stain finish to the nails.

I really wasn't expecting a whole lot from OPI Red, but that quickly changed once I got a good look at it on the nail.  The longer I wear this color, the more I'm loving it.  I seriously cannot stop looking at my fingertips.  The subtle shimmer is what makes OPI Red a stand out red nail polish.  It doesn't look like much in the bottle, but once on the nail, it's amazingly gorgeous.

I don't really hear much about OPI Red, which saddens me because it really deserves more attention. Perhaps it has to do with the somewhat confusing name?  It has made it onto my "must have" red list, and also a "must" for any red nail polish lover.   OPI Red is one of the Classic Collection colors, so it should not be too difficult to find.
